One need to perform below mentioned steps to upgrade SmarterMail mail interface version from 4.x to 5.x:

Backup Process:

Backup the current SmarterMail installation and contents. Need to copy of the following files and folders:

• c:\program files\smartertools\smartermail\service\mailconfig. xml
• c:\program files\smartertools\smartermail\service\domainlist. xml
• c:\smartermail folder (the entire folder)

Uninstall SmarterMail 4.x Process:

Uninstall SmarterMail v4.x from the server.

Installation of SmarterMail 5.X Process:

Please install SmarterMail 5.x version using the same paths as 4.x is install
(Default path for SmarterMail is c:\program files\smartertools\smartermail)

Activation Process:

Need to log into the SmarterMail webmail interface as the SysAdmin and perform below mentioned steps:

• Click on Settings.
• Click on Activation.
• Click Activate Product.
• Click Enter License Key
• Enter your SmarterMail License key
• Click Next.
• Enter your email address and password.(This email address and password are the ones associated with your SmarterTools account.)
• Click Activate Now.
